Macaela is a travel advisor with a passion for storytelling and a talent for crafting immersive, budget-conscious journeys that bring history and culture to life. Drawing on her extensive background as a theatre professor, she seamlessly blends her expertise in storytelling and creative design with her love for travel. Growing up as an army brat instilled in her a lifelong sense of adventure, and she now channels that spirit into curating meaningful travel experiences that connect travelers to the rich narratives of their destinations. Whether it’s exploring ancient ruins, attending live theatre performances, or indulging in local culinary traditions, Macaela designs journeys that go beyond sightseeing to foster deep connections and lasting memories.

Before transitioning to travel advising, Macaela built a career in theatre education. She holds a PhD in Theatre from Bowling Green State University, as well as an MA and a BFA in Theatre from the University of Central Missouri. She is currently an Interim Lecturer at Sam Houston State University, where she teaches Beginning Acting and Play Analysis. Over the years, she has taught courses such as performance studies, playwriting, theatre history, and theatre appreciation at institutions including Bowling Green State University, the University of Tennessee at Martin, and the University of Central Missouri.

Macaela’s research focuses on women in stage combat, theatrical adaptation, and theatre for social justice, and she is also an active writer. Her current projects include a new adaptation of A Christmas Carol, an original musical The Mill Girls, a history of women in stage combat, and a cookbook inspired by food in plays and musicals.

Her transition from academia to travel advising was a natural evolution of her passion for storytelling, creativity, and cultural exploration. Now, she combines her theatrical expertise and academic foundation with her love of adventure to design travel experiences that are both enriching and unforgettable.
